Friday Frock and Fizz

Let’s get casual with a nightcap.

jersey knit

I’m talking espresso with vanilla cream topped off by a recycled jersey lounge dress.

Espresso Nightcap:

1 1/4 cups whole milk
1/2 cup heavy cream
1 1/4 cups espresso
1 cup amaretto liqueur

Combine the milk, heavy cream, espresso and amaretto liqueur in a medium saucepan. Place over low heat, stirring constantly until hot but not boiling, about 3 to 5 minutes.

Vanilla Whipped Cream:

1/2 cup whipping cream
2 tablespoons powdered sugar
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

In a large mixing bowl, beat the cream until thick. Add the powdered sugar and vanilla. Continue to beat until cream holds soft peaks.

To serve: Pour the Espresso Nightcap into 4 (8-ounce) mugs. Dollop with the Vanilla Whipped Cream and serve immediately. Cheers my dears!

Do what you love. Style yourself and the life you live with the color of your heart and mind. It is imperative that you follow these directions because life is short. Yes, the saying rings true. The moment is now.

It is finally feeling like Spring in the city. What do you think of this Red Valentino frock? For a similar and less expensive version, check out an ASOS floral print frock.

Whenever I’ve celebrated Cinco de Mayo, it has always been from California. Of course, I find myself in New York City this weekend, with my first friend in life coming to town for a visit. What better reason to try a tequila or two? Here’s to celebrating over thirty years of best friendship and the cinco-of-it-all, too!

Friday Frock and Fizz

I was in California all of last week, soaking in rays of sun, sipping margaritas and spending time with some of my favorite people. The day I returned to New York City was the Big Apple’s first real hot note of sunshine this year. Subways sprayed air conditioning, single ladies sported sandals and the isle of Manhattan physically felt different. It always does, during the shift toward the sun-season. Let’s keep the heat and head over to one of Brooklyn’s best outdoor bars, Hot Bird.

The former auto shop turned spacious patio bar is a perfect pause while in Prospect Heights. Gather up your fun and savvy friends for a fizz or three.

Keep calm and cool in the hippie-chic vibes of Les Nouvelles’ web offerings. One of my favorite frocks is the Embroidered Shirred Tank Dress. If we can’t leave the East Coast for Coachella, let’s celebrate in style nonetheless.

Friday Frock and Fizz

Spring is here, but it is still as cold as ice cream in New York City. Nonetheless, I’ve got my eye on a frock to wear as soon as the sun shines.

Yuna Yang always creates feminine pieces, this time giving us the Talis dotted lace dress in white. There’s a real kick of fun to this frock. Pair it with a blood orange and bourbon fizz, sit down and soak in the weekend.

blood orange

Make it at home with:
1/2 cup freshly squeezed blood orange juice (strain the pulp if you wish)
3-5 tablespoons bourbon (depends on how boozy you want it)
2-3 drops of Angostura bitters
Splash of sparkling water
Orange slices & sprigs of mint, for garnish

Pour yourself a glass of rose champagne and put on a frock you feel comfortable in…it may increase your confidence, tenfold. (For more on that fun notion, check out this article). Like I said, live in the moment, it’s all we really have…

And: listen to yourself. When you do your spirit shines free.

Coconut Pancakes

Coconut pancakes immediately make me feel cozy. Like wearing favorite Saturday morning attire. And while it is Monday, I am embracing comfort all week long, even amidst a hectic work week. Why don’t you join me?

Friday Frock and Fizz

There is so much good stuff to share with you, I could serve up a week’s worth of Frock and Fizz. I’m reigning myself in and sending out two fun loves: leather and Evelyn. The killer combo blends classic and feminine into sexy.

I spotted this frock within the pages of the latest issue of Harper’s Bazaar. Holli Rogers (Fashion Director at Net-a-Porter) effortlessly wears Christopher Kane’s black leather and sheer-paneled creation. It’s just so right, I want to wear it all weekend. Let’s stroll into Evelyn Drinkery…an Alphabet City cocktail bar named after a woman who is, according to the meaning of names, desired, full of life and bird-like. Three layers of fortune if you ask me. The three gentlemen manning the bar are ready to create a dream sequence of spirits. It’s all too good to only have one make the cut. Go ahead, fizz-indulge here. Cheers my dears.
