Friday Frock and Fizz

I confess: I am obsessed with polka dots. I have been wearing them since birth (do Irish freckles count?) Now, in my early thirties, I adore them even more than when I was thirteen. Avid readers, you are aware polka dots aren’t foreign to this blog. As of late, I’ve been wearing this skirt. It reminds me of the frock above,  et voilà , a Friday Frock and Fizz is born.

The Aviation cocktail is the perfect pairing to a polka dot frock. For the maraschino liqueur allows the dot of cherry to linger as long as you like.  While the polka dot came on the scene in late nineteenth century Britain, today’s featured fizz was created in New York City during the early part of the twentieth century. Regardless of age or locale, lets indulge!

Make it home like this:
2 oz Gin
1/2 oz Maraschino liqueur
1/2 oz Fresh lemon juice
2 Dashes of Creme de Violette (optional)
Serve straight up in a cocktail glass
